Fuel company eyes export growth

A Co Antrim online fuel company has invested over £140,000 towards export growth.

Mallusk-based Fuelagents, which was set up this year, is an independent web-based commercial fuel oil agency which acts as an online broker for customers purchasing fuel products.

The products supplied include heating oil, gas oil, diesel and petrol and are primarily aimed at sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, haulage contractors and plant machinery operators.

Fuelagents plans to increase sales levels to £125,000 by 2012 in UK and Republic of Ireland markets before targeting the US within the next five years.

The firm invested in a new website, implemented an extensive sales and ICT strategy and recruited an e-marketing manager to drive the business in export markets.

Invest NI offered over £22,000, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, towards Fuelagents' growth plans.

Donall O'Connor, managing director of Fuelagents, said that the service is particularly in demand in the current financial climate.

"With the cost of oil continuously fluctuating, we have created an online marketplace where traders can find and secure the best deal available," he said.

"Help from Invest NI has enabled us to fully implement our marketing activities and drive the business towards growth."
