Galgorm won the prestigious Hotel of the Year award at the recent Northern Ireland Tourism Awards 2016.

The very cream of Northern Ireland's hospitality sector attended the glittering gala ceremony at St Columb’s Hall Derry Londonderry with Tourism NI Chairman Terence Brannigan in attendance, presenting 14 different categories including two special awards.

Galgorm resort is set within 163 acres of lush parkland near Northern Ireland's most renowned scenic attractions and just 30 minutes from Belfast is also celebrating its 25th anniversary year.

Staff and management were delighted to take home the Hotel of the Year award, especially given the stiff competition.

General Manager of Galgorm Colin Johnston said: "We are extremely honoured to win Hotel of the Year.

"It is down to the hard work and dedication of our team that we have won this award. It is great to be congratulated as one of our industry’s finest and we strive to continue this success.

"We’d also like to thank our loyal customers for making this happen, it is especially poignant to win this award as 2016 is our 25th anniversary year and a cause for real celebration of all we’ve achieved over the last 25 years.

"Galgorm Resort and Spa's commitment to providing an unrivalled customer experience and to enhancing the tourism infrastructure in Northern Ireland continues to be paramount."

Tourism NI Chairman, Terence Brannigan, added: "There’s no doubt these awards are the biggest night of the tourism industry calendar and both the award winners and this city have done Northern Ireland proud.

"I am confident that the best practice, the innovation and the creativity demonstrated tonight will underpin Tourism NI's efforts to help move the industry on and indeed strengthen the local economy."

Galgorm launched its new thermal spa village to huge success last year. Located on the banks of the River Maine, guests enjoy the serenity of the natural landscape and experience relaxation with an extensive selection of water-based treatments and facilities including riverside hot tubs, indoor and outdoor heated pools, steam rooms and Celtic sauna and the unique snow cabin.
