One of Maghera's most historic buildings has been given a new lease of life thanks to a £250,000 investment. Law firm Mallon-McCormick, which has been based on Main Street in the Co Londonderry town, is creating two new jobs with the move to the former Station Master's House on Station Road.

The grade B1 listed building had been empty for around 10 years.

The grand building has since undergone a major investment and extension and is opening as Mallon-McCormick's new offices.

Managing partner Joseph Mallon has said the revamp and taking on the building is an important step for the firm, which has operated in Maghera for more than 40 years. The deal was financed with help from Ulster Bank.

"We saw the potential in the Station Master's House to create a statement office near the centre of town that would provide us with a modern base for the company," he said.

"We have worked closely with Ulster Bank, who have supported our investment, and we look forward to officially opening the new premises."
