Gym supply firm wins £500k deal

A Ballynahinch company has won a £500k contract to provide gym equipment to six post-primary schools throughout County Down.

Garden Escapes sealed the deal with the South Eastern Education and Library Board and will work with The Great Outdoor Gym Company (Ireland) to install the equipment.

They'll supply and install outdoor gym equipment in Down High School, Saintfield High School, Regent House, Glenlola Collegiate, Lisnagarvey High School and Fort Hill College in the coming months.

It follows an initial contract signed in December 2012 for outdoor gyms within five secondary schools including High School Ballynahinch, Priory Integrated College, Glastry College, Newtownbreda High School and Laurelhill Community College.

Roger Sayers, head of property and planning services at the SEELB, said the gyms should help raise fitness standards.
