Home auction sales growth 'encouraging'

The UK auction market showed "encouraging growth" in November with the number of homes going under the hammer jumping by 12%, research indicated.

A total of 1,838 residential properties were offered at auction during the month, 12% more than in November 2009, according to the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA). Around 59%, or 1,078, of these properties were sold, an 8% rise on the previous November. Around 3,454 homes went under the hammer in September, 25% more than in the same month of the previous year, while 2,716 homes were auctioned in October, up 18% on the previous year's figure.
