Home of popular Belfast bar Bittles sold off to property developer
The home of Belfast bar Bittles has been sold to property developer BJ Eastwood.
The bar, which sits at the back of Victoria Square shipping centre, is run by John Bittles.
Now, the building, has been sold off to Wirefox, which is run by BJ Eastwood.
Wirefox has refurbishment plans for the building, which include new office space that will be placed on the market.
Joanne McBurney, director of developments at Wirefox, said:
“The purchase of this truly iconic building is the latest example of Wirefox’s burgeoning suite of Belfast city centre assets.
“This is one of the most eye-catching buildings in Belfast, similar in shape to the Flatiron Building in New York. There is significant commercial property activity in the area and the vacant units on each floor offer tremendous potential for development.
“The demand for more city centre office space still continues to outstrip supply, and we are confident there will be a lot of interest in the building when commercial property agents Savills bring the new units to market.”
It's understood Wirefox is also eyeing up taking on the CastleCourt shopping centre on Royal Avenue.
CastleCourt has been owned by Hermes property fund since 2012. A spokesman for Wirefox previously said it does not comment on "speculation and rumour".
