Home ownership costs jump in UK

The annual cost of owning and running a house in the UK has increased by an average of £179 over the past year, according to a study.

The typical cost has risen 1.9% from £9,411 last year to £9,590, but less than the 2.7% increase in consumer prices over the same period, Halifax said. However, Northern Ireland has the lowest cost of £7,970.
