Hughes Insurance recruits 22 to improve customer service

Insurance broker Hughes Insurance has created 22 new jobs at its Newtownards headquarters to support its expansion and improve customer service.
The firm recruited 40 staff in March and now employs more than 200 people in Northern Ireland. Hughes said that “further expansion in 2010 is also inevitable” as it reacts to changes in the insurance market.
“Customer behaviour is changing — so we need a flexible |business model to serve the market,” said Gareth Brady, one of the firm’s directors.
“Increasingly our customers access our service online and out of office hours. As a result we have invested in our customer access points to cater for market demands. Sixteen of the 22 recent employees have been brought in to expand our opening hours whilst the other six employees have been recruited to enhance our online service.”
He added: “Our recruitment programme has been dictated by forecasting customer demands — our customers want to deal |with us how and when it suits them, on the high street, online or on the phone.”
