A Northern Ireland PR firm has been shortlisted for a top UK industry award. JPR, which is based on Holywood Road in Belfast and employs 14 people, is one of six firms in the running for the 'outstanding small consultancy' gong in the Chartered Institute of PR Excellence Awards.

It's the industry's longest-running awards programme.

Other shortlisted firms for the award include British Airways, O2 and Aviva.

Paul Mylrea, chairman of the judging panel, said: "To be shortlisted is a reason to celebrate, all the more so as the standard of entries improves year-on-year, testament to an industry that's growing in importance and influence.

"What sets the CIPR Excellence Awards out from the crowd are the face-to-face panel interviews where entrants have to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of their brief to our team of highly-experienced judges."

The awards ceremony takes place in London on June 8.
