Judge dismisses couple's negligence claim against Queen's bank Coutts
A businessman and his wife have lost a High Court fight with the Queen's bank.
Les and Janet O'Hare - of Warrington, Cheshire - claimed that Coutts had been negligent when providing investment advice.
They said Coutts, which is based in London, had breached a duty of care and claimed more than £3 million damages.
Coutts disputed the claim and a judge has ruled against Mr O'Hare - who ran a chemical engineering firm - and his wife after a hearing in London.
Mr Justice Kerr said he sympathised with the couple but had concluded that their claim should be dismissed.
He said an issue at the heart of the case was whether Mr O'Hare had been "persuaded" to make "higher risk investments".
