Co Down plane seat maker B/E Aerospace is celebrating bumper new contracts with American Airlines, the Belfast Telegraph can reveal.

In an interview with the Belfast Telegraph, the airline's David Thomas revealed that B/E Aerospace has been lined up to make its premium economy seats on its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which will be launched in August.

And last night B/E Aerospace, which employs around 800 people in Kilkeel, said it also be supplying all three seat classes - business premium, premium economy and economy - for American Airlines' new A350s. There was no contract value available for either deal.

Mr Thomas, American Airlines' regional director for the UK/Ireland, Middle East and Africa, also told the Belfast Telegraph that air passenger duty (APD) was "stifling" aviation in Northern Ireland and the UK.
