Liberty House names management team to lead Speciality Steels buyout
Metals group Liberty House has appointed executives to lead its speciality steels business ahead of completion of its £100 million acquisition from Tata.
The deal to buy Tata's UK Speciality Steels, which employs around 1,700 workers in the North of England, is expected to be completed "in the near future".
Jon Bolton, chief executive of Liberty's plates and UK steel development will be chief executive, while Peter Hogg will move from British Steel to be chief operations officer and Chris Kirby, a senior consultant to metals and energy firms, will be chief financial officer.
Sanjeev Gupta, executive chairman of the Liberty House Group, said: "Speciality Steels will play a pivotal role in achieving our overarching Greensteel vision and we are appointing a management team of the highest calibre to lead this crucial operation.
"The business will provide us with very significant melting capacity and will also make the high-grade steel we need for our advanced engineering operations."
