A NEWRY TV production company with panel shows and a history series under its belt is set to create nine new jobs as it goes after new export markets.

Big Mountain Productions has made shows for Irish television like acclaimed history series The Tenements for TV3 and RTE panel show Who Knows Ireland Best?

Now Big Mountain, which is run by Philip McGovern and Jane Kelly, plans to develop new TV formats - which it will retain the rights to - in a bid to grow over £2m in export sales.

Invest NI said it was contributing over £88,000 towards a total investment of nearly £500,000.

Company director Philip Mc Govern said: "This investment will help us to create new and unique products that can be marketed globally and grow our company into a major brand for popular factual and factual/entertainment formats.

"Protecting the intellectual property rights to our products will be a key factor in our future success and growth in key markets. Support from Invest NI will enable us to progress our expansion plans and help us to secure £2.4m worth of new export business over the next three years."

Big Mountain hopes to create nine new jobs in media, research and production management in the next three years.
