Limavady care centre Cornfield in major expansion

A care facility in Co Londonderry is taking on 100 new staff as part of a £3.4m investment. Cornfield Care Centre in Limavady, which is owned and managed by Jervis and Jennifer Nutt, currently employs 120 people.

Now the centre will take on 80 full-time and 20 part-time staff as part of its expansion, which is funded by First Trust Bank.

Mr Nutt is a former farmer who said he recognised a need for care in good quality accommodation in the area.

The centre specialises in care for elderly patients with physical disabilities, and provides residential dementia care as well as day care.

Mr Nutt said: "Our team has always kept 'quality care in a quality setting' at the heart of what we do. With the help of First Trust Bank, I am delighted to be able to extend the care centre to meet the growing demand for such high quality and personalised care.

"The bank's support has been invaluable in delivering this project and has been marked by personal service, industry insight and the necessary flexibility as our plans developed. We now look forward to opening our doors and welcoming new residents to the centre in the coming weeks."

Fiona Kelly of First Trust Bank said: "When Jervis approached us with his plans, we were delighted to support him and meet the growing demand they had identified, particularly in offering specialist dementia care.

"This latest expansion raises the bar significantly for quality nursing care and makes them one of the largest employers in the area. Their commitment is to be applauded and we look forward to supporting them in the future."
