Lindsay's motoring ahead on car sales

A Northern Ireland Ford dealership has said sales for the first part of 2013 are up on the year earlier.

Lindsay Ford said sales for January were up 11% on 2012, with the Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus the most popular choices for customers.

Shaun Allen, regional director at Lindsay Ford, said: "We understand that it can be a tough time for motorists at the moment.

"But innovations such as our EcoBoost engines are proving very popular by helping to drive down motoring costs."

The company's sales growth is reflected in overall car sales figures for February from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

It said there were 4,001 new car sales in Northern Ireland in February.

This is up 55 on the same month in 2012.

Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus were the month's number one and two models respectively.

The Volkswagen Golf, Nissan Qashqai and Vauxhall Astra occupied the third to fifth places.
