Lisburn's Superchip sauces chipper as it expands franchise

A Northern Ireland maker of sauces for the fast food and restaurant trade has earmarked its first franchise business in the Republic of Ireland.

Superchip sauces in Lisburn will supply its range of products to a new franchise in Donegal and is preparing to target further similar opportunities throughout Ireland and Britain as well as Europe.

The business provides sauces, breadings and mayonnaise to fish and chip shops and fast food takeaways, sandwich bars, pubs, restaurants and corporate canteens.

Managing director Brian Agnew established the franchise business in March 2011.

Superchip sauces are produced by BJ Sauces, of which Mr Agnew is also managing director, and which has been supplying sauces to Northern Ireland eateries since 1998.

The company's growth has been assisted by Invest NI support.

Mr Agnew said: "We have a strong business base in Northern Ireland and recognised some time ago that we'd have to look at neighbouring markets for growth."
