Mannequin will train up medics
A Belfast company has proved it is no dummy after developing a new mannequin to help teach lifesaving skills.
TruCorp's TruMan Trauma System helps medical professionals master chest tube insertion, needle decompression, airway management, tracheotomy and CPR.
The new product was developed with research and development assistance from Invest NI, which offered TruCorp 40% of the funding required to develop the new product.
TruCorp was founded in 2003 as a spin-out from the Department of Anaesthesia at Queen's University Belfast (QUB).
The company works closely with the Northern Ireland Technology Centre at QUB. The company has started shipping to distributors in the US, Europe and Asia.
Carol Keery, Invest NI's research and development director, said: "This enhances Northern Ireland's global reputation as a centre of excellence in life-saving medical devices."
