Map guide company planning to expand

A Ballymena company has launched a themed map guide for the lucrative Dublin visitor market.

The Pretty Useful Map Company was founded by Hilary Redmond and Heidi McAplin last year and produces tourist maps showcasing key visitor destinations across Britain and Ireland.

The company generates revenue through the sale of advertising space around the border and back of the map. Smartphone technology is used to link the guide to banks of information hosted on the company's website or partner organisations' apps or websites.

The pair are keen to capitalise on opportunities beyond Northern Ireland and want the company to be an internationally recognised brand. They are investing £22,000 towards export marketing activities and the recruitment of a sales and marketing manager. Invest NI has offered the company £8,800 of support towards the project.
