Marston's confirms NI pub to close
British pub giant Marston's has confirmed it will take over seven Brewers Fayre restaurants as part of a deal with the brand's owners Whitbread.
Yesterday the Belfast Telegraph revealed a Northern Ireland branch involved in the transaction would shut.
The deal, due to close on Monday, includes six pubs based in England and one known as Antrim Park in Northern Ireland, based at The Junction shopping centre.
A spokesman for Marston's said the company took the decision because it "does not currently operate in Northern Ireland and does not have any plans to do so in the foreseeable future".
It's understood the six other pubs are spread across the north, south and midlands of England.
Brewers Fayre's two branches in Carrickfergus and Londonderry are not part of the deal and will remain open. The chain declined to comment.
