Building materials firm Kingspan, which employs nearly 900 people in Northern Ireland, has said underlying sales were up 8% during the first four months of the year.

But the Irish company said orders for its building materials from commercial projects in the UK had slowed in the run-up to the EU referendum.

However, it said its project pipeline was otherwise "encouragingly ahead of last year" and that the group was "in good shape".

Kingspan, which also owns insulating materials firm Springvale EPS in Dunmurry, said sales in Northern Ireland, France, Germany and Eastern Europe were all "very solid". And at €903.1m (£711m), group sales for the four months were up 25%.
