Kim Anderson from McNeill Thriftway Travel says her parents and colleagues alike have had a big influence on her
The travel industry is fast paced and vibrant. No two days are ever the same; there are new challenges to face and new problems to solve.
We have busy times and even busier times - it's never boring. With over 10 years experience in the travel industry, I was appointed business development manager at McNeill Thriftway Travel earlier this year.
This appointment represents my most challenging to date. Whether it is liaising directly with senior management in major airlines, meeting with existing corporate clients, or generating new business leads, the role is always exciting and inspirational.
Personally and professionally, my parents - both of whom have great business minds - are a real source of inspiration. They encourage me to remove my rose-tinted glasses; to see the bigger picture and look beyond the obvious.
Working in the travel sector, this advice has been invaluable.
When I am told something can't be done or am advised of a limitation, I immediately start thinking outside the box to offer the best possible solution for our clients. Making sure our clients get to the right place at the right time, in the most efficient and cost effective manner, is of paramount importance and underpins the very ethos of our company - no request is too big or impossible to accommodate.
With over 20 years of experience in the consolidated airfares market, we have a proven record of bringing cost savings to thousands of business travellers across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
At McNeill Thriftway, we provide a personal service, built upon solid, professional working relationships. I am fortunate to have the support of a dedicated team. My colleagues in the McNeill Business Travel team make my job easier and are a real source of inspiration; liaising with our corporate clients, they work with complicated itineraries and always go the extra mile for our clients.
Working in the travel industry is, at times, challenging, so a good work/life balance is essential. It is this which allows you to recharge the batteries so that you can be the best that you can be - in all aspects of your life.
