A Co Down brewery has walked away with a business award just months after setting up shop.

Former SDLP councillor Connaire McGreevy set up the latest addition to Northern Ireland's brewing scene, Mourne Mountains Brewery, earlier this year.

The business now produces a host of brews, including a wheat, red ale, and India pale ale (IPA).

Now, it's been named 'Best New Business' at the Greater Newry Area Business Awards, hosted by the Newry Chamber of Commerce and Trade.

"We're really delighted that the brewery's early success has been recognised by our local business chamber," Mr McGreevy said.

The business is selling its beers throughout Co Down and further afield, into some bars in Belfast.

And it's already planning to break into the Republic market "within the next 12 months" and the rest of the UK shortly after.
