New-look McDonald's creates jobs

By lesley Houston

A £400,000 investment at a McDonald's outlet in south Belfast has created 10 jobs.

The restaurant at Saintfield Road underwent a major refurbishment, giving the branch a facelift both inside and out.

The new jobs have been created following the reimaging of the restaurant and brings the current employment to 72 full-time and part-time staff.

There are also plans to recruit more part-time staff over the coming months. The refurbished restaurant, now operating 24 hours, seven days a week, includes a new drive-through.

Franchisee Des Lamph said, "As a local franchisee I'm keen to ensure steady investment in the area and I'm pleased to be able to provide 10 new full and part-time positions for the local area.

"The new-look restaurant combines an infusion of vibrant colours and quirky shapes that will give our customers the perfect place to come for a quality meal and friendly service."

McDonald's operates 26 restaurants in Northern Ireland and has invested more than £7.5m in the last three years refurbishing its restaurants.
