Newly opened sportswear retail outlet scores on the double

A new shop which has opened in Belfast has brought two new sportswear outlets under one roof.

The premises at 33 Rosemary Street houses Pele Sports' first UK outlet, as well as Northern Ireland's first dedicated MBT footwear store.

Pele Sports is a range of products inspired by the famous Brazilian footballer, which includes football boots and clothing.

George Best's sister Barbara McNarry visited the newly opened store. She said: "Over the years George and Pelé became great friends so I was very happy to hear that a Pele store was opening in Belfast."

As well as two sports ranges, one for serious football enthusiasts and one for more casual players, there will be a lifestyle/fashion line known as Pele Story.

MBT (Masai Barefoot Technology) is a brand of so-called physiological footwear, designed to encourage natural walking and prevent back pain with a multi-layered sole. The shoes have previously been available through selected physiologists, pharmacies and retailers in the province.

The new shop has brought four new jobs, with one full-time member of staff and three part-time workers looking after the outlets.
