A Newry building firm is helping bring one of Northern Ireland's National Trust treasures back to its former glory.

Murdock Builders' Merchants was awarded the contract to supply all building and joinery material for the Mount Stewart project.

The £8m restoration of the listed Co Down building is aimed at reviving and transforming the popular visitor site.

Mount Stewart - which is located on the shores of Strangford Lough - was reopened after three years of restoration by the National Trust.

Denis Wright, project manager for the National Trust behind the restoration, praised the work of Murdock Builders' Merchants and said that the company's approach to the contract "was one of partnership, local knowledge and innovation".
