Northern Ireland's biggest food firm, Moy Park, is spending £4m on boosting production of its cooked chicken products.

The Craigavon-based poultry giant said 'ready to eat' cooked chicken was a key growth area.

And it said its investment would boost production capabilities and improve innovation in the "fast-moving" category.

Supply chain director Keith Irvine said: "Moy Park is committed to growing the business through investment in both our industry leading farming and operational facilities. This investment further cements the company's position as one of the most advanced producers of 'ready to eat' products in the UK and Europe as it enhances our ability to satisfy consumer demand for increasingly innovative, healthy, convenient and tasty products."

Moy Park will be installing new oven cooking and chilling technolgy in its Craigavon factories as part of the big investment.

The firm announced a £20m investment in its Craigavon facility last year in a move to increase production.
