Oil companies unite under Emo brand

Four major oil companies in Northern Ireland are uniting under a single entity.

Cawoods Oil, Emo Oil, Fuel Services and Kane Fuels will be known as Emo from October 1.

Emo, which will now employ 120 people, is Northern Ireland’s only independent oil importer and distributor, importing oil into its own terminal at Airport Road West in Belfast. Cawoods, Emo, Fuel Services and Kane Fuels worked together as partners in DCC Energy group, still owners of Emo.

Sales and marketing director Barry Funston said Emo was committed to competitive pricing. “We are aware that the price of oil is a key consideration for people, especially in the context of rising living costs. We are committed to remaining highly competitive and, when the market allows a price reduction, we will pass it on to our customers.”

Emo will continue to operate from its head office in Belfast, but will now operate across Northern Ireland through former Fuel Services depots in Coleraine and Newcastle, and Kane Fuels in Carrickfergus.
