Only £3k between top five schools

It was a relatively quiet week on the London Stock Market with the benign conditions for share trading matched by the calm January weather.

In week 12 the FTSE 350 index of leading companies rose by just 0.06% as traders got fully back into the swing following the Christmas holidays.

So how did the schools' teams fare this week? Quite well actually, with most teams registering a positive return in a difficult week.

There were several changes at the top of the table. Belfast High has consolidated its position at the top but is closely pursued by Loreto College, Coleraine, who rose four places to second. Malone College slip one place to third, just £100 behind.

Just £3,000 separates the top five, and just £3,000 the next five so much can change in the next few weeks.

The FTSE350 has risen by 2.6% since the competition began back in October, and the top nine teams have all managed to better this.

At the end of January, teams will have their final opportunity to make changes to their share selections to see if they can boost their portfolio value before the competition comes to an end.

The competition's winners will receive gift vouchers.
