The organisers of Belfast's Culture Night have won an award in recognition of their contribution to the city's economy.

The Cathedral Quarter Trust was given a president's award by the city's Chamber of Trade and Commerce for organising the annual celebration.

The trust was praised for both driving footfall and boosting the economy of the city.

A spokesman for the Chamber said that this year's Culture Night, which was held in September, attracted 65,000 people and brought £3m in investment into the city.

Hugh Black, president of Belfast Chamber of Trade and Commerce, added: "I would like to congratulate the Cathedral Quarter Trust, a voluntary organisation that is working hard behind the scenes to positively profile and promote not only the vibrant Cathedral Quarter of the city, but also for the greater good of Belfast."
