More than 17,000 Christmas jobs are still unfilled, including many in retail, warehouses and catering, according to a study.

Jobs site Adzuna said temporary, part-time jobs had been "flooding" the country in recent weeks following announcements from supermarkets, online firms and Royal Mail.

But it is not just regular job vacancies available - there are also unusual roles including Christmas tree light untanglers and even present pickers.

The best-paying Christmas jobs include locum medical consultants (£720 a day) and emergency nurses (£400), while the lowest paid include care workers (£7.20 an hour).
