Rathlin's new era of high-speed broadband

Rathlin Island has been chosen for a BT pilot of 'wireless to the cabinet' technology, which will bring broadband speeds of up to 80 Mbps to the island for the first time.

His wife Ann is an artist who video teaches from her studio.

Mr Mitchell said: "At the moment, we have very limited speeds with our home broadband service so we're looking forward to trialling the new technology."

Frank McManus of BT said: "This is a first for the UK and Ireland and will enable residents on the island to enjoy similar fibre broadband speeds as those available across Northern Ireland."
