Record sales put Group on track for success

The Mallusk-based Henderson Group has been placed in fourth position in the latest Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 of the UK's leading mid-market private - the highest position ever for a Northern Ireland company.

The list is compiled by ranking the turnovers of the largest mid-market throughout the UK which remain in private ownership.

The food wholesaler, which owns the SPAR, EUROSPAR, ViVO, ViVOXTRA and ViVO Essentials franchises in Northern Ireland, has appeared on the Top Track 250 for the eight years it has been published and its record sales of £583m and profit of £16m in 2011 have helped push it up the rankings.

Last year also saw the family-run business increase employee numbers by 250 to take its total workforce to over 2,400, a figure which has increased by another 200 so far this year.
