Retail boost with Black Friday sales showing a healthy hike in Belfast

Victoria Square sees number of shoppers increase by 19%

The Black Friday weekend saw shopper numbers surging by almost 20% at one of Belfast's leading shopping centres.

Retailers across Northern Ireland offered customers a host of reductions - some up to 70%.

And some shops here reported up to a 30% boost in sales.

Michelle Greeves, centre manager at Victoria Square, told the Belfast Telegraph footfall was up significantly on last year.

"Black Friday weekend was a fabulous start to the Christmas shopping period as footfall in Victoria Square over the three days was 19% higher than in 2015," she said.
