Northern Ireland travellers will benefit from another European route in a bumper year for link-ups.

George Best Belfast City Airport has launched a new flight to Salzburg in Austria.

The Aer Lingus charter, aimed at ski lovers, will run weekly from Christmas Eve to March 11.

Katy Best, the airline's commercial and marketing director, said: "Salzburg is a world-class ski destination and its wide range of quality ski resorts, which cater for skiers of all abilities, are all served by our new route.

"The demand for ski holidays in the local market is strong, and we are confident this route, facilitated by Aer Lingus, will prove very popular." It's the latest European route from Belfast this year after Ryanair launched links from Belfast International including Berlin, Girona in Spain, Milan and Gdansk and Wroclaw, both in Poland
