A County Down engineering company has broken into Europe's largest fishing market.
Kilkeel-based Sea Ice was born out of the need to prevent ice shortages at the local harbour and after designing a machine to solve the problem, it has now reeled in the lucrative Spanish market with a number of contracts to manufacture and sell its machines.
It has recently achieved its new deal of breaking into the Spanish market with the support of the Ulster Bank.
Founder of Sea Ice, John White, said: "Our machines operate on vessels across the world and with our exporting experience in Norway to back us as well as the support of the Ulster Bank we feel now is the right time for us to pursue the Spanish market.
DJ Wilson, business manager at Ulster Bank, commented: "This is a great business which is supplying innovative and locally designed ice machines to vessels that are fishing in seas across the globe and we are delighted to support them as they take their products into new markets".
