Fears of an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico triggered a 5% slide in Royal Dutch Shell's shares yesterday.
The alert came after the firm warned of a light sheen on waters near its facilities. It is "confident" the oil has not originated from its wells but out of "prudent caution" has deployed a response vessel.
