Siblings ban over unfit trading

By Margaret Canning

A brother and sister have received five-year boardroom bans for their conduct as directors of a failed manufacturing company.

Michael Bovill (34) of Annaghmore Road in Toomebridge, Co Antrim, and 26-year-old Shauna Heron of Glengomna Road in Draperstown, Co Londonderry, were in charge of Bovill TTF in Newtownabbey.

The company, which was established in 2005 and made bodies for commercial trucks, folded two years ago with losses of £372,306.

Mr Bovill and Mrs Heron gave disqualification undertakings for five years each to the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) last month.

They admitted to unfit conduct including giving wrong information in a statement of affairs, withholding VAT of £70,400 over three financial years, bouncing cheques and direct debits worth £349,400 over four years and failing to file accounts and annual returns, also over four years.

The pair also admitted that they kept trading the business as a firm even after it was struck off the registrar of companies.
