Specsavers eyeing up a £350k move to bigger premises

By Staff Reporter

A co Londonderry branch of Specsavers will be the biggest in Northern Ireland after it moves to larger premises as part of a £350,000 investment.

Judith Ball and Lynn Mackey are set to create five new jobs in Coleraine - bringing their total workforce to 32 - when they move to The Diamond on May 4.

The new store will be 7,000 sq ft - the biggest in Northern Ireland, at three times the size of the old Kingsgate Street premises.

The stores are run as a joint venture partnership with a Specsavers Optical Group, a minor shareholder.

The new premises has six optical test rooms and a hearing centre with two soundproof rooms, which will be managed by qualified audiologist, Joanne Torrens.

Ms Ball said the business was moving to a bigger location to cater for growing demand.

She added: "We have experienced particular growth in children's eye care, the over-sixties market and contact lenses.

"We're also serving more corporate customers."
