Sponsor in positive mood over new jobs

The latest hot HR topics in Northern Ireland are employee engagement and learning & development, according to recruitment specialists Brightwater NI

Over the last 18 months, the trend in recruitment has moved away from an emphasis on roles across redundancy and restructuring towards those focusing on the health and well-being of employees.

"It's a very positive move," said Stephanie Mulholland, manager of Brightwater's HR division. "Organisations are recruiting again, but the focus now is on doing it smartly and strategically with a priority on the retention of key employees."

Brightwater NI recently announced their sponsorship for a second year of the 2014 CIPD Awards in Northern Ireland, taking place in Lisburn this Thursday.

The CIPD has over 3,000 local members working across the public, private and voluntary sectors in businesses ranging from small indigenous organisations to large multinationals.

The awards recognise initiatives that have transformed business and organisational performance, as well as the contribution individuals and teams working in HR have made to the way people are managed and developed.

Shortlisted for awards are: Niamh, Diageo, Allstate, Antrim Borough Council, Northern Ireland Civil Service, Citi, Newtownabbey Borough Council, Young Enterprise NI, Kainos, Trackers Biz, First Trust Bank, Translink, Co-operation and Working Together, B/E Aerospace, Triangle Housing, Prestige and Momentum Human Capital.

Appropriately, one of the 2014 categories is 'employee engagement initiative of the year'.

"This very much reflects the need of employers to get staff bedded back into the organisation in a positive manner," added Ms Mulholland.

"Many more organisations also understand the need to train up staff to enhance individual knowledge to the ultimate benefit of the overall business.

"We're thrilled to be involved in the CIPD NI Awards once again as there is an incredibly strong link between the commitment of our two organisations to promote HR excellence in the region."

Brightwater NI, established here 13 years ago, is part of the Brightwater Group, Ireland's leading specialist recruitment consultancy to a wide range of companies, from SMEs to large multinationals.

The company's HR division recruits HR professionals for a large variety of industries across Northern Ireland and has been involved in a number of high profile campaigns in recent years. More at www.brightwaterNI.com.
