Sports coaching company forges South African partnership

A Co Down sports coaching company is attempting to break into the South African market by partnering with a university spin-out in Johannesburg.

Leading Edge Performance from Holywood has joined up with University of the Witwatersrand to develop an executive leadership programme utilising golf and other sporting concepts.

The new programme will be delivered in South Africa and in Dubai for the first time later in the year.

Leading Edge Performance is formulating a partnership agreement to participate in delivering leadership and management development courses with Wits Enterprise.

Wits Commercial Enterprise is a private company, wholly owned by the University of the Witwatersrand, focused on the marketing and commercialisation of the university's intellectual capital through course management, research support, intellectual property management and technology transfer.

"Our developing partnership with the university is an immensely exciting development for us," said Max Williamson, founder of Leading Edge Performance.

"We are also excited by the opportunity to extend the project to the United Arab Emirates, where we already have a significant presence. Invest NI's guidance and support is enabling us to grow sales in two of the most dynamic markets – the UAE and South Africa."
