Start-up tech firm wins £300k growth capital

A start-up company which allows the makers of video blogs to tag products, music and people on their videos has won £300,000 in growth capital.

Taggled TV in the Northern Ireland Science Park has come up with a tool which allows viewers of 'vlogs' to click on tagged content to find out more information – while also delivering revenue for the vlogger.

The company, which employs five people, has won the funding from a consortium of investors including Co-Fund NI, a fund created by Invest NI and part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Chief executive Ian Scott said: "This has been a very exciting time for the company and this fresh investment will enable Taggled to scale up, increase headcount and fully launch our product in European and US markets in the near future.

"Our aim is to offer 'vloggers' a simple, informative tool for creating dynamic and interactive content for their users and this funding will maximise our ability to do this," said Mr Scott.

Taggled TV was recently named 'most innovative website' at the all-Ireland Realex Fire Web Awards.
