Stop-go on M2

Published 12/05/2009

Great to see the traffic rolling unfettered down the hill section of the M2 from Sandyknowes, now that the third lane is open.

It means, of course, that all those cars and lorries can hurtle onwards to the new undisputed champion of traffic bottlenecks — the Nelson Street offslip.

Because until the Department for Regional Development gets going on a flyover at York Street, it’ll still be a case of stop-go.

And given that it is likely to be at least 2014 before work starts on a flyover, we can expect Nelson Street to loom large on the traffic bulletins for years to come.
