Surfboard-mad Portrush brothers to pitch to billionaire Richard Branson

Two surfboard-mad Portrush brothers will pitch to billionaire Richard Branson after securing almost 5,000 public votes.

Ricky (35) and Chris (31) Martin have been making waves for the last two years building surfboards at their Skunkworks firm in Coleraine.

Now, they have reached the final of the Pitch to Rich, beating off 900 businesses from across the UK.

And they are the only Northern Ireland firm in with a chance at winning £50,000 to invest in their firm.

Ricky Martin said the pair were “ delighted” with the news.

“We want to develop what we have already achieved so our manufacturing plant becomes a centre for innovation and a hub for job creation,” he said.

"We have come up with a product which is 100%recyclable for an industry which is expected to be worth $13.2bn by 2017 and we are more than ready to pitch it to Richard Branson.”
