In April of this year staff at the crisp factory in Tandragee rejected a call by a union for strike action.

There were fears at the time that up to 80 jobs could be lost in Co Armagh after the snack manufacturer claimed production costs here are considerably higher than at any of its sites in England.

On Wednesday a spokesman for Tayto said they expected the applicants to come from administrative and production sides of the usiness.

He said: “We are seeking up to 20 individuals at the Tandragee site, who wish to be considered for voluntary redundancy.

"We expect the applicants to come from both the administrative and production sides of the business.”
