Technology 'is the route to profit'

A TOP technology expert at Microsoft will be telling Belfast firms how to take advantage of technology to capture customers at a major conference later this year.

Kieran McDonnell is group manager for business solutions with the giant firm, and will be discussing the 'new world of work' at the Smart Business Show at the Odyssey Arena in May.

He will join other keynote speakers including Per Thorsheim, the security researcher who first revealed to the world that business networking site LinkedIn had been hacked in 2012.

Among some of the companies who have embraced online marketing are local firm AirPOS, which supplied Belfast's Pure Running with an electronic point of sale and online ordering.

Owner of Pure Running Michael Jenkins said that the firm realised how quickly the retail landscape was changing.

"The AirPOS system future proofs our business and will help us to reach new customers as well as staying in touch with our current customers better," he said.

Mr McDonnell will outline how IT managers can rethink their critical business applications.
