UK is biggest investor in United States
The UK is the single biggest investor in the United States and supports more than one million jobs, according to research underscoring the "economic special relationship" between the two nations.
The Confederation of British Industry's (CBI) Sterling Assets report found the UK invested $449bn (£346bn) in America at the end of 2014.
The cash injection was $76bn (£59bn) more than the next largest investor, Japan, and nearly $200bn (£154bn) more than Canada.
It means that the UK holds a 15% slice of the $2.9trillion (£2.2trillion) of foreign direct investment into America, with Indian and Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) combined reaching just under 1%.
The confederation's international director Ben Digby said the investment was a sign that the "economic special relationship" continued to go from strength to strength.
