UK spring freeze costs Next £12m

Fashion and homeware chain Next suffered a £12m hit to weekly sales during the height of the UK's spring freeze, figures have revealed.

The performance would have been even worse but for online and catalogue shoppers who boosted takings in the 14 weeks to May 4. A breakdown of week-by-week sales compared with the same period last year showed how overall sales dipped from mid-March to the start of April.
