An increasing number of workers are ditching company benefits in a bid to boost their salaries, research indicated today.
Around 38% of companies have noticed a growing trend during the past two years of employees opting out of benefits, such as company pension schemes or life insurance, in order to have higher take-home pay.
Marco Forato, Unum's chief marketing officer, said: "Although there's no denying that a lot of people are struggling financially, workers should only opt out of long-term financial benefits as a last resort."
