Ulster Bank backs vet Catherine's new pet project in Newcastle
A Co Down vet is opening a new practice specialising in companion animals.
Catherine Savage, who has worked as a vet in Castlewellan, is striking out on her own with the opening of a new surgery in Newcastle.
Donard Veterinary Clinic will employ three people and is being set up with funding from Ulster Bank.
DJ Wilson, business development manager at Ulster Bank, said: "Catherine is a well-known vet in the south Down area, having worked for a leading practice in Castlewellan for a number of years. She is highly regarded in the locality and has decided to set up her own practice in Newcastle. We were impressed with Catherine's ambition and business planning, and are pleased to support her with the new venture."
Ms Savage said: "I always wanted to run my own company, and having developed quite a lot of experience as a vet, I thought now was the perfect time to do it.
"Ulster Bank have been extremely supportive, and I feel that I have a great location in which to develop and grow the practice."
