A jobs and skills showcase spurred on by the development of Ulster University's new Belfast campus has been launched.

The Employment and Skills Event will showcase a host of new job and training opportunities that are being created with the next phase of the university's city centre campus.

Helping launch the project, which opens next month, Employment Minister Stephen Farry said: "The potential for job creation during the construction phase of the new Ulster University campus is considerable.

"I am delighted that my department, in partnership with the university, has been leading the way in terms of social clause commitments, resulting in the creation of 20 jobs for the unemployed during the life of this project."

The Department for Employment and Learning is one of the key funders of the project, providing a grant of £16m towards the £250m overall cost.

The event takes place at the university's Belfast campus between 10am and 4pm on January 20.
